Mr. Colpitts was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School.  Mr. Colpitts attended Oklahoma State University from 1983 to 1987 when he graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

I've been practicing 30 years. Board certified in consumer bankruptcy.  I am planning on retiring in 2026. It seems like since the pandemic all of the cases are difficult and the benefit to debtors is minimal. I'm going to retire soon and leave it to the young folks to figure things out.

In 1992, Ike Shulman led the effort to organize the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys ("NACBA") to provide consumer debtors with an effective voice in the legislative process. Mr. Shulman was elected NACBA’s first president, and served in that position through 1996.
