About me
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Ms. Owens has built a distinguished legal career grounded in service,
leadership, and advocacy. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in English and Political
Science, graduating cum laude from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
During her undergraduate studies, she was recognized for her academic excellence through
membership in several prestigious honor societies, including Omicron Delta Kappa, Golden Key
National Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, and Pi Sigma Alpha.
Ms. Owens went on to attend Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she gained
valuable hands-on experience as a staff clerk with the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office.
She also dedicated her time to serving vulnerable members of the community through volunteer
work with the New Orleans chapter of CASA and the Family Legal Advice Clinic.
Licensed to practice law in Georgia, North Carolina, and West Virginia, Ms. Owens focuses her
practice on business contracts and disputes, nonprofit organization matters, mobile home title
clearance, bankruptcy law and mediation. She is a certified civil mediator through the Georgia
Commission on Dispute Resolution, helping parties resolve conflicts efficiently and effectively.
In May 2017, Ms. Owens was appointed as a Chapter 7 Trustee for the Southern District of
Georgia, Savannah Division, a role that reflects her extensive experience and trusted reputation
within the legal community.
Ms. Owens serves on the board of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees and
spearheaded the creation of the Trustee Tribune newsletter. She is a Master for the W. Homer
Drake Georgia Bankruptcy Inn of Court and a graduate of the GAWL Leadership Academy.
Before founding her own firm, Ms. Owens practiced in the areas of real estate law, title
clearance, and default servicing defense and litigation. She played a key role in developing and
managing a multi-state mobile home title clearance team, overseeing title clearance matters
across Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, West Virginia,
and Virginia.
Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Owens is deeply committed to community leadership and public
service. She has served as Chair of the Savannah Chatham Economic Opportunity Authority,
Chair and Interim Director of Savannah Chatham Court Appointed Advocates for Children, a
member of the Savannah Chatham Public Schools Audit Committee, and legal counsel to
numerous nonprofit organizations. She is also a graduate of Leadership Savannah. Her
professional achievements and community involvement reflect a lifelong commitment to
strengthening both businesses and communities throughout the region.
